No Test Drive Needed!
Can you remember
a time when you trusted God blindly and obeyed Him immediately
at a word He spoke? Maybe it was something small…or perhaps something
life changing. When we seek God for direction and answers, He always delivers.
But do we truly tune into Him? It’s easy to use our own logic and wisdom in
making decisions. After all, God gave us free will. But even in our ‘Free Will’
to choose, we must ensure that it’s in ‘His Will’, or what I like to say, ‘Free
Will in His Will’.
It’s easy to step
out in faith and obey God at His Word when it seems logical, convenient and self-assuring.
But what about when God speaks to us about the big things, the life changing
decisions which we have been seeking, asking and praying to Him about?
For instance, who buys a car without test driving it first? Well, I DID! You’re probably wondering, ‘wait what?’ Stay with me, we’re going somewhere (no pun intended) 😉
It was definitely not an impulse buy, who impulse buys a car? 🤔 Only the filthy rich of course. It was intentional, it was a deliberate act of faith and trust in GOD because He said, “that’s the one, buy that car!” So let me rewind a bit. I was on my way home from a long day at work stuck in traffic and feeling discouraged and overwhelmed because the past weeks I had been visiting car dealerships all over the country, and nothing appealed to me. It wasn’t that any of the cars I had seen were not nice, they were, but I didn’t feel drawn or led to any of them, I was waiting on God’s confirmation.
So, there I was sitting
in traffic feeling discouraged, not knowing what to buy and where to go next
(my patience was growing thin). I whispered the following, “Lord why are you
silent? I’m waiting for an answer, I don’t know what to buy, you know me better
than I know myself, please show me what car to buy before the end of this week”.
I remember everything I said to the Lord as if it were yesterday because of
what happened next!
Suddenly, as I was talking to God and asking Him for direction, this car bold-facedly swung right in front of me, “rel bad man drive” as we say in Trini lingo. And the following proceeded out of my mouth “Who do you feel ….whoaa look at that beauty”, my eyes had the heart emojis 😍 in them and then I heard the Lord clearly say, “that’s it, that’s the car you’re going to buy, same colour”. Boy, did God literally throw the answer in front of my face that day. It was one of the quickest and most tangible ways He ever answered me, and it was the only bad man drive I was ever grateful for on the road 😂
The rest is truly a testimony. After contacting the company the next day, I was told that the car had been out of stock for nine months, with none available to view and the incoming shipment already fully booked. I joined the 2–3 month waiting list, determined to wait because God had confirmed this was the car. When I placed the order, my dad asked, “What about a test drive” to which I responded, “No test drive needed, that’s the car God said to buy.” What followed was a testimony of God’s goodness and favour.
The next week I received
a call saying that a car arrived at the port with my name on it. I was flabbergasted!
The sales agent said I was ‘fortunate’ to receive one in the same colour I wanted
in this shipment. And in just three weeks, God delivered exactly what He had
spoken. When I first drove the car off the company, I was awestruck by God’s
faithfulness and it was everything I had hoped for and more. I’m glad I trusted
God at His word and no test drive was needed!
God knows exactly what our desires, wants and needs are. He is a perfect God
who says no good thing shall He withhold from those who walk
uprightly (Psalm 84:11). He has meticulously and carefully planned our
lives step by step, chapter by chapter. But the onus is on us to move
when he speaks His Word. Psalm 37:23 says, “The steps of a righteous man
are ordered by the Lord”.
Noah built
the ark at the spoken word of the Lord without hesitation (Genesis 6:22)
Mary said, “Be
it unto me according thy Word” when the angel visited her and told her she
would carry the Messiah (Luke 1:38)
Abraham didn’t
delay when God told him to pack up and leave his land and father’s household. (Genesis
12:4: Abram departed as the Lord had spoken)
What do Noah,
Mary and Abraham have in common? Something happened when the Word of
the Lord went forth, they came into agreement, trusted and believed
GOD and obedience immediately followed. Oftentimes we desire sudden
answers and breakthroughs but does immediate obedience follow
when God speaks?
Noah didn’t wait to test the weather before he entered into the ark, as a matter of fact, God gave him 7 days to enter and prepare and then sent the rain (Genesis 7:1 ,4). Mary didn’t need to see the signs of pregnancy appear to know that she was carrying the Messiah; from the very moment she said ‘be it unto me according to thy word’, the seed was planted. And Abraham didn’t need to take a test drive on his Camel X5 😉 first, to scope out where God was taking him before packing up and leaving his kindred and land!
Psalm 23:1 says, “The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want” 🕊️✝📖 𓋾
Friends, God
not only guides us, but he leaves us not wanting for anything. God’s
faithfulness showed up in ways I could never have planned. I received my car on
the 23rd day of the month in the year 2023, and the numbers on my
license plate add up to the number 23, a divine reminder that every
detail of our lives is in God’s hands. When we trust His Word and obey,
even the smallest steps align with His perfect timing.
What is God
saying to you right now that requires your trust in Him and your immediate
obedience? Take Him at His Word! No test drive needed!!

ReplyDeleteI remember you sharing this testimony to me!!! God is soo good and so faithful. Because we know he is a BIG god we often forget that he is willing to need us in the little things too. “When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?”
